The collision avoidance system is a kind of warning or safety awareness system that is specifically designed to eliminate the collision severity of trains. Such systems are widely used in various mining and automotive sectors in order to prevent accidents or collisions from happening. With the help of this system, detecting the imminent strike becomes possible as it alerts the driver before the onset of the collision. This system is interpolated within the train or any other vehicle for enabling the autonomous and semi-autonomous decision-making process. Additionally, this system is capable of taking automatic action without any prior input from the train driver.

The global train collision avoidance technology market, or the train anti-collision system market, is highly influenced by the growing demand for security from the government and also from the passengers in order to avoid train accidents through collisions. Also, the technology used in the collision prevention and warning system is helping the drivers during the low visibility conditions such as fog that could result in some major life-threatening consequences.
In the recent market research reports that were published by Sheer Analytics & Insights, the global train collision avoidance system market has different segmentation. Geographically, the global train collision avoidance system market is divided into global regions like Europe, North America, Asia- Pacific, Middle East, LATAM, and Africa.
Recently, the Indian railway department has selected two companies that could install the train collision avoidance system or the TCAS in order to prevent accidents in the Vikarabad-Bidar section, a 200 km long track. It is one of their pilot projects. Kernex Microsystems and Medha Servo were selected among the top six contenders, consisting of a few multinational companies, by the Research, Designs and Standard Organization (RDSO) of the Indian Railways on behalf of the Railway Board.
The train collision avoidance system or the TCAS is a kind of safety device that is mainly designed to prevent train accidents. The TCAS is a combination of railway signaling data with radio communications, radio frequency identification devices, global position, software, and logic. “TCAS is developed in RDSO and it is very cost effective for us. While TPWS cost about Rs 70 lakh per km, TCAS is just about Rs 10 lakh,” a railway official said.
